The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Idrisa Timta, has revealed that the suicide bombers that attacked Gwoza town on June 29 this year where 32 lives were lost and about 100 people injured, were imported to commit the atrocities to prove to the people that the terrorists group was still relevant despite being defeated by Nigerian troops.

He maintained that the bombers did not come from the Sambisa Forest or the Mandara Mountain but they where brought into town to show the people and government that the terrorists were still relevant.

The Emir stated this on Sunday when the Senator representing Southern Borno at the National Assembly, Mohammed Ali Ndume, paid him a courtesy call to condole the families of the dead victims of the recent suicide attacks and survivors.

LEADERSHIP reports that no fewer that 32 persons died while about 100 others sustained various degrees of injuries in the multiple suicide bombing attacks at a wedding ceremony and other locations in Gwoza town of Borno State.

Continuing, the Emir said: “That suicide bomb attacks cannot deter us. We lost our people but that is destiny. You just brainwashed young girls to come and detonate bomb. Let them come to Gwoza physically and see what we will do to them.

“When people come to you and shoot and run away, that shows that they are defeated, when people come to you and detonate improvised explosive devices (IEDs), that also shows that they are defeated. Let them come physically, we will go after them and catch them one by one. We have explored many ways to defend ourselves since we have good government that is supporting us,” the monarch said.

He appealed to the federal government to deploy more soldiers to Gwoza so that together with the people, the terrorists will be totally eliminated for peace and development to return to the town.

Meanwhile, Senator Ndume said one of the purposes of visiting Gwoza was to sympathise and condole with the families of the victims and encourage the people to increase their resilience, and to tell the world that Gwoza people are resilient and not deterred by what happened on June 29.

He expressed excitement for seeing the people of Gwoza going to their farmlands despite the recent suicide attacks and commended the Nigerian military for supporting and protecting the people while working on their farms.
