Assist Us With Secretariat, Private School Owners Appeal To Cross River Gov

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAAPS), Cross River State chapter, has appealed to the state governor, Bassey Otu, to assist the school owners with a befitting secretariat in Calabar, the state capital.

The stakeholders made the appeal during the inauguration of their new executives led by Mr. Godwin Okwu, on Tuesday, in Calabar.

Speaking on behalf of the NAAPS stakeholders, Mike Abolade stated that with a befitting secretariat, the the association would be in a proper position to initiate ideas that can would impact meaningfully towards the development of the state’s educational sector.

In his post-inauguration speech, NAAPS chairman, Cross River State, Mr. Godwin Okwu, assured that he will lead with wisdom, transparency and accountability in order to take NAAPS to higher heights.

“I want your support, with your support, the sky is our limit. Let’s work as a team, with teamwork, we can add our quota towards transformation of the state,” Okwu stated.

When asked to give insight about what NAAPS under his watch will do, Okwu said, “My team and I have strong plans to reposition NAAPS, put the association in the right perspective.

“An association cannot be run without a secretariat. We are going to partner the state government in the development of the sector.

“There should be a genuine partnership with the state government if we are to move forward,” Okwu maintained.

Earlier, Zonal President, South-South, Reuben Ikponmwen, while inaugurating the NAAPS nine-man Cross River State executive council led by Okwu, sued for peace and unity in the association in order to to form a strong and united indivisible front that can lift NAAPS to higher heights.

“Advocates policies that can bring benefits to our students. Your leadership is crucial in shaping the future of education in Cross River State and the country at large. Work with your stakeholders; listen to their concerns. Provide innovative solutions to challenges facing our sector,” the zonal president advised.
