Hunger Protest: Ilorin Union Asks Nigerian Youths To Shun Protest

The Ilorin Emirate Development Progressive Union (IEDPU) has urged the indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate and other Nigerians, particularly members of the youthful segment, not to participate in any form of physical demonstration against the government.

The national president of  IEDPU, Alh AbdulMumini  AbdulMalik made the appeal in a statement he personally signed .

The community leader, who acknowledged the fact that things are not easy for most Nigerians, nevertheless said that any form of physical demonstration would worsen the situation as it would disrupt economic activities.

AbdulMalik, who is a retired assistant comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said that with the avalanche of opinions being expressed in the conventional media and social media by concerned Nigerians and institutions,  the government is very much aware of the inclement situation and must be working towards redressing it in the interest of all.

He recalled that the anti-SARS protest that was carried out across the nation a few years ago left many Nigerians poorer as it also claimed the lives and properties of many  innocent Nigerians.

AbdulMalik, who commended the government and organised labour for agreeing on a new minimum wage for workers, enjoined the government to swiftly address the challenge of the consistent inflation that has left millions of Nigerians pauperised.

The community leader insisted that the government must  ensure that lesser  amount of money is being spent on governance and issues that have no economic significance to the populace .

He added that if elected and appointed public officials continually engaged the people in consistent conversations and  their  earnings are considerably reviewed downward the public would definitely be assuaged.

AbdulMalik also called on other community, opinion as well as religious leaders and other well-meaning individuals to join in taming the youth to give peace a chance and give the government the benefit of the doubt.
