Fake Soldier Arrested For Defrauding Bauchi Job Seeker

Police operatives in Bauchi State have arrested Aminu Mohammed, 30, for impersonating a Nigerian Army personnel and defrauding a job seeker of about N210,000, promising to secure his recruitment into the Service.

LEADERSHIP Friday learnt that Mohammed has been operating as a pseudo-soldier for about two years after obtaining a pair of military camouflage from his friend, an employee of the Nigerian Army.
Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson Ahmed Wakil disclosed this in a statement yesterday.
Wakil said Mohammed directed his victim to meet an accomplice in Zaria to facilitate his entry into the military training school.

“However, after spending eight days in Zaria, the victim could not meet the individual who was supposed to take him to the training school.

“Preliminary investigations have shown that the culprit had never served or worked with the military before his arrest,” the statement reads.

Wakil explained that the case had been transferred to the CID for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
