Residents of the Kurmi local government area of Taraba State have appealed to security agencies, the federal government and the Kaduna State government to step up measures for the release of a mother and her three children from Taraba who were abducted last Sunday in Kaduna State.

Mrs Joyce Cyrus Sanda and her three children, who are indigenes of the Kurmi local government area of Taraba State but live in the Sabon-Tasha area of Kaduna, were abducted at gunpoint by unknown persons in the early hours of last Sunday.

Her abductees had made contact with her husband, Mr Cyrus Sanda, demanding millions of naira as ransom.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the matter was immediately reported to the Kaduna State Police Command.

Briefing journalists in Jalingo yesterday, the family head, Mr Nathan Sanda, and several others begged the federal government, Kaduna State, and security agencies to ensure the safe release of Joyce and her three children.

He said the ransom demanded by her abductors could not be sourced by the family, stating that the family is devastated by the continued stay of the mother and the three children in the hands of their abductors.

“Since Sunday, the mother and her three children were taken at gunpoint in her house in Kaduna. The abductors have contacted us, but the money they are demanding is what we cannot raise as a family.

“We are afraid they should not be hurt; we are begging both the federal government and Kaduna State to help rescue our family members safely,” he said.
