Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, said over 408 dams have been identified for irrigation purposes nationwide.

Goronyo said the efforts were part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to cushion the effects of hunger experienced by Nigerians.

He explained that “under the new plan, the Federal Government would enter into partnerships with private investors to inject their funds to empower and advance the lives of ordinary Nigerians.”
While appealing to Nigerians to be patriotic and patient and support the federal government, Goronyo described the planned protest as “politically motivated treachery aimed at not only targeting the President but ploughing the nation into a serious situation of helplessness.

“All hands must be on deck by patriotic citizens of the country to avert the calculated destructive protest.”
He cited countries like Sudan, Libya, and others where similar situations resulted in endless economic setbacks by collapsing virtually all infrastructure and resources.

According to the minister, Nigerians should understand that President Tinubu’s current government has vowed to deliver on its campaign promises, which all serving ministers and those in the top government hierarchy have also expressed their commitment to.

He explained that the president must be encouraged and supported to lead the country to a prosperous destination where Nigerians’ hope and confidence would be secure.

The minister assured that President Tinubu is making concerted efforts to avert the menace of hunger, security, and social vices that citizens are experiencing.
