WIMBIZ, Nigerian UK High Commission Partner To Boost Women-led Trade

Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has partnered with the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom to foster trade opportunities for women-led enterprises.

In a statement issued by the executive director at WIMBIZ, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, they signed this partnership when they paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
During the visit, they highlighted the crucial role of women‘s leadership and economic inclusion in sustainable growth.

The WIMBIZ delegation, led by chairman of the Board of Trustees Bisi Adeyemi, included notable members such as co-founder Bola Adesola, Trustee Aishah Ahmad, Executive Director Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, Chair of the London Conference Planning Group Rabi Isma, and Vice Chair Caroline Popoola.

Bisi Adeyemi expressed WIMBIZ‘s dedication to promoting Nigerian entrepreneurs and collaborating with the High Commission on export support initiatives.

“Our robust network of female-led businesses across various sectors is strategically positioned to capitalise on international trade opportunities between Nigeria and the UK to foster prosperity in both nations,“ she stated.

She also called for increased representation of women on international corporate boards, emphasising the pool of qualified and board-ready women in Nigeria.

Bello Jaye, representing the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, voiced strong support for women‘s inclusion in trade and investment initiatives.

The Nigerian High Commission is committed to supporting Nigerians and promoting beneficial programs. We are eager to facilitate investments and trade between Nigeria and the United Kingdom and are open to collaborating with your organisation and its members,“ he said.

Jaye praised WIMBIZ for its two decades of dedication to advancing women‘s issues and announced plans for a sensitisation forum to increase awareness of recent UK trade initiatives.
