The first Hijabi crowned queen, who is the Most Gorgeous Girl Nigeria (MGGN) been appointed as ambassador of Museums Nigeria to showcase and promote the tourism areas, and museums in the country.
Queen Ruqayya is also expected to educate and inspire young citizens to appreciate their history through arts.
In her acceptance speech, during the official commissioning of the Museum Gallery in Ibadan which doubles as her award ceremony as Ambassador of Museums Nigeria,
Queen Ruqayya stressed the need for Nigerians to be proud of their identity.
She noted that museums and their patrons are critical components in the efforts to prevent the loss of the nation’s culture and heritage.
“It is with the understanding of this, that I accept the honour and responsibility conferred on me as Ambassador of Museums Nigeria, to support and publicize the vision of the director general of the commission in his mission to restore, rehabilitate and reposition the great institution, while educating young citizens on their role in the preservation of our country’s heritage.
“It is our responsibility to keep the torch burning. To preserve, promote, and appreciate the history, heritage and culture upon which our nation was built. He who is not proud of his identity is not fit to live. Our Heritage is ours to keep alive.”
Speaking further, she said it is the responsibility of all Nigerians to support networks like the National Commission for Museums and Monuments in preserving the nation’s cultures.
Speaking earlier the director general, National Commission for Museums and Monuments Prof. Isa Tijjani in his speech said “one of her responsibility is to showcase and promote the tourism areas, museums in the country”
Tijani added that her role is to educate and inspire young citizens to appreciate their history through arts.
