Sanwo-Olu’s Fulfillment Of Cash Promise Excites Corps Members

Excitement for 4,254 corps members that just completed their week’s orientation camp at the Iyana – Ipaja NYSC orientation Camp as the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has fulfilled his promise of N100,000 each of them.

It would be recalled that the governor made the pledge in his address as the special guest of honour at the NYSC Passing-Out Parade/Closing Ceremony for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members, held recently at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the NYSC camp was thrown into wild jubilations the following Monday when the state government credited the bank accounts of the 4,254 corps members with a N100, 000 each and N100m to NYSC support staff in fulfilment of the governor’s promise.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had also at the event, announced a N5bn pledge towards the construction of a permanent site for the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp at Agbowa, in Ikorodu division of the state and automatic employment in the state public service for the best 100 corps members at the completion of the one year scheme.

The corps members who received the ₦100,000 pledge from Governor Sanwo-Olu have expressed their joy and gratitude at separate interviews, hailing him as a leader who keeps his promises.
A corps member with state code LA24B3437, Yunus Abdulkadri Olarenwaju expressed his excitement and gratitude to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for fulfilling his ₦100,000 pledge to corps members.

Olarenwaju, who received the alert, said he was initially skeptical, thinking it was “politics.”
However, he thanked the governor for prioritizing their well-being and being a “governor of Welfarism.”

The corps member noted that the money came at the right time, considering the economic challenges faced by many. “It came like a blessing to us that we are able to sort one or two things out,” he said.
Olarenwaju said he used part of the money to buy sneakers and expressed his admiration for the governor’s commitment to people’s well-being.

“This gesture has encouraged corps members to perform their duties excellently, knowing they have support from the governor and others.

“I thought it was politics, not until I got the alert, and I really thank the governor for putting us first,” he said.

Also another corps member with state code LA 24B 1655, Okoye Ifeoma Emmanuella expressed her surprise and gratitude to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for fulfilling his ₦100,000 pledge to corps members.

Emmanuella described the governor as a “talk-and-do” leader, whose promise came as a surprise. She noted that the money was helpful in tackling transportation costs.

She also lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his affable nature, recalling how he wore the corps uniform during the Passing out Parade and looked “young and agile.” She described him as a “nice man” who has encouraged other governors and corps members to serve.

She thanked the governor for fulfilling his promise, saying it has motivated corps members to serve with dedication and enthusiasm.

In the same vein, a corps member with state code LA 24B 0006, Dr. Nwosu Chidinma Patricia commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his ₦100,000 pledge.

Nwosu, who said she used the money for small businesses, providing much-needed capital, described the governor as a “father that says and does what he says.

For two corps members, Opara Chinelo Mariun and Alaribe Prince Emmanuel the money was manna from heaven for them.

They expressed their gratitude to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his ₦100,000 pledge.
