The Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), has hailed the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for settling the N1.4 bn pension arrears his administration inherited from the last administration in the state.
The chairman of the union, Comrade Saidu Oladimeji made the commendation when he led other members of the union on a thank-you-visit to the Local Government Service Commission and Local Government Pension Board in Ilorin, the state capital.
Oladimeji said that the approved N1.4bn represents 11 months’ pension arrears owed some pensioners by the immediate past administration of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed. He said that pensioners in the state would forever remain grateful to Governor AbdulRazaq for his kind gesture, describing him as God-sent leader.
He added that, ” the coming of Governor AbdulRazaq at this period is
timely. He has come to rescue the pensioners particularly at the grassroots level from perpetual suffering in the hands of successive administrations in the state.
“We are here on behalf of over 32,000 pensioners to appreciate the Governor for prioritising the welfare of pensioners in the state. We suffered a lot under the previous administration. Only a few of us were luckily spared from the suffering.
