The Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu, has expressed delight that people of Enugu State have shunned the ongoing nationwide protests code-named #EndBadGovernance.

Senator Ngwu, who is the lawmaker representing Enugu West Senatorial District in the Senate, said this after monitoring the situation in his state on Thursday.

He described the decision of the people, especially the youths to go about their normal businesses, jettisoning the protests as a show of solidarity and expression of happiness with the administration of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The Senate Principal Officer, who admitted the perilous socioeconomic situation of the country, however, commended the people of Enugu for their show of understanding especially with the State Governor who has in the last one year demonstrated that he has the interest of Ndi Enugu at heart.

He reiterated the call on people especially where the protests have turned violent to emulate the people of Enugu State, and calm down to give the government at the centre a second chance to address their concerns, adding that the National Assembly too was not folding its arms, but taking steps to provide legislative interventions to ameliorate the situation.

Senator Ngwu, therefore, urged Enugu people to continue to support Governor Mbah, to spur him to do more in providing dividends of democracy, especially in the area of infrastructure development which he has done very well so far.

“Having monitored the situation in Enugu, I am delighted to say that there is no protest in the state as Ndi Enugu, particularly the youths are happy and appreciative of tremendous efforts of His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah to turn the fortunes of the state around.
