The properties were vandalised and looted by irate youths during the violent protest in the state.
The governor who spoke during an inspection visit to the damaged places expressed sympathy for the victims and directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assess the damage and report to him within one day so government would provide assistance. He also visited the Gombe main market where he encouraged traders to resume their activities, assuring them of increased security measures.

Inuwa also announced a donation of N10 million to support the market.
