Wildlife Conservation Society of Nigeria (WCS) has swept Bauchi’s famous Yankari Game Reserve to provide a clean and healthy tourist destination in line with global best practices.
Speaking with journalists at Yankari Games Reserve to commemorate 2024 World Rangers Day, the project manager of WCS Nigeria, Nuradeen Ahmed said it became imperative to clean Yankari to keep the area tidy and healthy for visitors from within and outside the country.
He said tourist attraction sites like Yankari must be kept clean to conform to global best practices, adding that this way, a lot of tourists would be attracted to boost revenue flow into the coffers of the Bauchi State Government.
” Considering the importance of World Rangers Day, WCS Nigeria embarked on sanitation to evacuate the plastic-related waste discharge in Yankari Game Reserve to protect the animals from feeding on it,” Ahmed said.
Responding, general manager Yankari Game Reserve, Muhammad Yusuf, commended WCS Nigeria for the support it has been rendering the reserve over the years.
He called on the Bauchi State Government to support the rangers working in the reserve with working tools and training to enable them to meet contemporary challenges in protecting tourism resources in Yankari.
