The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), Zamfara State chapter has strongly condemned protesters waving the Russian flag and agitating for foreign agents to interfere in Nigerian affairs.

In a statement issued by its chapter coordinator, Hassan Hussain it said “CNG has been monitoring development in the state and across the 19 northern states in respect of the national peaceful protest with serious concern.”

He noted that “CNG is saddened with the unfortunate hijack of the peaceful protests that people embarked on to express their concerns and feelings as is the case in any democratic culture by the agent of darkness.”

He explained that the CNG recognised the constitutional rights of Nigerians to assemble and protest peacefully.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has called on the security operatives in the state to release innocent protesters arrested during the nationwide protest that turned violent.

The deputy state coordinator of the coalition, Abdullahi Kabir, made the plea while addressing a press conference in the state. He said government’s inaction led to the escalation of protest despite the fact that enough advance notice had been given to the government to act.

Kabir also condemned in the strongest terms the barbaric and uncivilised behaviour exhibited by some youths in the name of protest, lamenting the vandalisation of government and private properties and structures worth millions of Naira as a result of the protest in Katsina, Daura, and Dutsin-ma towns.
