Ahead of its scheduled September take-off, work has begun at the site of the newly established Federal College of Education, Ofeme Ohuhu, Umuahia, with the support of Abia State government
The state’s commissioner for information and culture, Okey Kanu stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive committee meeting in Umuahia, the state capital.
He said the meeting, which was chaired by the governor, Alex Otti took many resolutions that are aimed at consolidating the achievements the administration and opening up more spaces.
He asserted that in furtherance of the support, the administration had secured an office accommodation for the college for its take-off activities at Okpara Roundabout in the capital.
LEADERSHIP recalls that during the take-over ceremony of the site, recently, the pioneer provost of the college, Titus Ezeme said the event marked a turning point in the education landscape of the state and the country in general.
According to him, the federal government’s decision to establish the college in an agrerian community will create opportunity for academic advancement and catalyse socio-economic development of the area.
He extolled the governor for his support for the project, and commended the 2023 All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Ikechi Emenike for initiating the project.
