The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented five Toyota Hilux van and one SUV Jeep to the state Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (Kwara ACReSAL) to ease the implementation of the programme across different communities in the state.

The Governor tasked the team to put the operational vehicles into good use.

Kwara ACReSAL is a World Bank assisted project jointly implemented through the Ministries of Environment and Forestry, Water Resources, and Agriculture and Rural Development.

The programme addresses the challenges of land degradation and climate change, such as food security, in northern Nigeria on a multi-dimensional scale.

“We have purchased these vehicles to strengthen the activities of the core ministries and the SPU. We trust that you will put them to good use,” the governor said in Ilorin, the state capital at a brief ceremony attended by a few cabinet members.

Among the attendees were the chief of staff to the governor, Prince AbdulKadir Mahe, senior adviser/counsellor, Alh  Saadu Salahu, commissioner for Environment and Forestry and chairman of the State Steering Committee for the project, Nafisat  Buge, commissioner for Water Resources, Usman Lade; commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development,  Toyosi Thomas-Adebayo, special adviser on Special Duties, Alh Abdulrazaq Jiddah; and Kwara ACReSAL project coordinator, Alh Samsudeen Aregbe.

The commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Nafisat Buge said the gesture would ease the movement of the team and smoothen implementation of the project.

Aregbe said the project is about protecting the environment and boosting food security in the 19 Northern states of the federation and the FCT.
