Abductors of two students of the Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK) on Friday demanded the sum of N10 million as ransom to release the kidnapped students.

The two students were on Friday, August 2, 2024, kidnapped at the same spot and same day the Caretaker Chairman of Kabba/Bunu local government area, Dare Michael and three of his aides were abducted.

While Dare was released due to ill health that prevented him from walking quickly along with the abductors, the other three aides and the two students were still being held by the abductors.

The kidnappers had earlier on Monday demanded N100 million as ransom for the chairman’s aides, but they have now slashed the demand to N10 million.

Appeals have gone to the state government by the parents of the abducted students to intervene and help to secure the release of their children, stressing that they have been living in apprehension since the ugly incident.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Command said it was unaware that students of the institution were amongst those abducted alongside Mr. Dare.

Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi, SP William Aya, when contacted questioned why the parent of the students were yet to make any formal report to the security operatives.

For its part, the institution has refused to make a formal statement about the abduction of their students to the police.

Public Relation Officer of the Institution, Mr. Tade Oshaloto, declined to comment when contacted to speak on the abduction.
