The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced a formal investigation into the destruction of the nation’s travel document by a lady and has invited her for questioning.

The invitation is to let you know about the circulation of a video on social media showing a female traveller destroying a Nigerian Standard Passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The information was contained in a statement issued by the national spokesperson of the service, DCI Kenneth Udo, in Abuja.

Udo, who disclosed that the lady concerned in the drama had since been identified and invited for further investigation, said, “If the allegations are substantiated, her actions would have constituted a breach of Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), with corresponding penalties outlined under Section 10(h) of the same Act.

He asserted that the Nigerian immigration service remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the provisions of the Immigration Act in the interest of national security and to preserving the dignity and integrity of the nation’s legal instruments.”

LEADERSHIP reports that a viral video captured the female traveller identified as Favour Igiebor, destroying the Nigerian Standard Passport, which was said to belong to her husband at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

….I Tore My Husband’s Passport To Stop Him From Leaving Nigeria

Meanwhile, in another development, the offender was spotted in another video that has now gone viral explaining that she tore her husband’s standard passport to stop him from leaving Nigeria.
The lady, identified as Favour Igiebor, also lamented that her husband caused her a lot of trouble in Italy, where they resided, adding that his actions negatively impacted her health.

In it, she says, “I tore my husband’s passport because I don’t want my husband to go back abroad; I have been going through so much pain in this marriage for years. You all don’t know what I am going through; so many women are also going through pains in their marriages and cannot speak out.”

“I have passed through many challenges in my marriage, prompting my action. You must ask what happened; don’t just look at the action alone. I am not a mad woman who would just come and act like that. I have my reasons; I have gone through many things,” she stated.
