Ministry Of Health Condemns Abduction Of Medical Students In Benue

Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has condemned the recent kidnapping of about 20 medical students and a house officer by bandits in Benue State.

Also, the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA) has condemned the recent abduction of some medical students of the University of Jos and Maiduguri by some criminal elements in Benue State.
In a statement, the ministry described the unfortunate incident as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by healthcare professionals and students in the country.

It calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted students, ‘Their safety and well-being are paramount to us,’

‘We urge the relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice.

‘We also call on perpetrators of such evil activities to desist from such criminal acts and respect the sanctity of human life,’ the statement added.

Meanwhile, the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA) has condemned the recent abduction of some medical students of the University of Jos and Maiduguri by some criminal elements in Benue State.

According to a statement issued by the chairman of the alumni association, Plateau State chapter, Mr Gad Peter, he said the ugly incident once again points to the threat on Nigerian highways and a clear and present danger to the search for education and knowledge.

“We hereby call on the police and other security agencies to ensure a swift and safe rescue of these students and also the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this dastardly act”.

He urged every citizen and community leader to expose criminal elements, hiding and using their communities for criminal activities.
