Nigeria Committed To Implement Disability Responsive Projects – NCPWD

The National Commission for Persons With Disability (NCPWD) has restated Nigeria’s commitment to design and Implement Disability Responsive Projects.

Addressing journalists ahead of Global Disability Summit 2022 at the Commission headquarters in Abuja yesterday, its Executive Secretary, James David Lalu said he will work with development partners to achieve the target.

 

He revealed that the aim is to support women, ethnic minorities, indigenous People, and other marginalised groups of people with disabilities.

The executive secretary said Nigeria is committed to supporting initiatives and partnerships that encourage the media to portray persons with disabilities in a manner consistent with the convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

 

“To transform the labour market system to be more inclusive of persons with disability through relevant employability, vocational and digital training for youth with disabilities.

 

“Nigeria is committed to an inclusive working environment that includes provisions of appropriate reasonable accommodation and development of accessible innovation for tomorrow’s world of work to address the digital gap and develop flexible work arrangements.

 

Earlier, director for Planning for Research and Statistics, Mr. Soji Adewale said the Commission is working assiduously to ensure that persons with disabilities abilities are included in all facets of human endeavors they should have accessibility.

 

“We are saying that issue of disability is everybody’s issue. Therefore, all of us need to work together and see that people with disabilities are included in all facets of human endeavor,” he said.
