Following the prolonged crisis between the incumbent governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, the minister has vowed not to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that he would fight till the end.

Wike who made this known during a media chat with selected news broadcast stations in Abuja to mark his one year in office, said that he does not run away from a fight saying he must see the conclusion.

“I have told you that I do not run away from any fight, I will stay there and we will fight it out in the PDP. Who am I going to run from? The vampires?” Wike said.

The minister, while responding to statements that he is seen as the fifth columnist in the PDP who wants to bring down the house, said that as a PDP member, he did not support the party’s presidential candidate, and he did not do it secretly.

“All those people who are saying those things, did they bring one member that won the election? The PDP did not win. I stood my ground based on the principle that if this is not done, we will not accept that,” he said.

Wike while also responding to the question that the crisis may not be resolved in this circle of election except by convention and court, said that the reason for the crisis was because some people are very greedy.

“What I am saying and which we cannot take away is, let us follow the law, even if you hate this man, follow the law. What does the law say?

“It is not about plotting that you will bring Wike down, you cannot. You do not have what it takes to bring Wike down, you cannot.

“All Wike is saying is that, what is the law; what does the constitution of the party say? I will not, not just as a prominent member of the party fold my hands and allow somebody to be appointed to preside over those who were elected,” he said.

The minister further explained that the national chairman of a party is by election and not by appointment.

“If you’re doing caretaker, you can appoint someone, but if it is to preside over those elected, it must be by election through convention.

“I am a PDP member, the law must be followed. If you think that you can sit down somewhere and take decisions, you will cause crisis for yourself,” he said.
