CLEEN Foundation Trains Women Peace Mediators From Kaduna, Benue, Bauchi

CLEEN Foundation with support from UN Women and Norwegian Embassy has trained Kaduna, Benue and Bauchi women on peace mediation.

The executive director, CLEEN foundation, Mr. Peter Gad in his speech at a two- day learning exchange with women mediation platforms in Kaduna explained that the foundation is committed in changing the stereotype around women and promoting the many ways they can pivot.

He said, the engagements, have helped shape the women in fundamental aspects of peace building, digital skills, communication and cyber security, stressing that their interest, commitment and results have truly been next-level and commendable.

The executive director who was represented by finance officer, Helen Anwana urged the women to have the tools to maintain and expand network of mediators, as well as support peace-focused initiatives at all levels.

The director of programmes, CLEEN foundation, Salaudeen Hashim who presented slides on risk management exposed the mediators on how they can manage and mitigate risk when it happens.

 

He urged them to develop safe guard mechanism, both for personal safety and protect reputation for the platform they represent.

 

The deputy director, Arbitration and Mediation at Kaduna Multidoor Court House, Sa‘adatu Hamma urged NGOs and other associations fighting SGBV to make themselves open and available for survivors.

 

She however, identified lack of support from survivors and their families as major challenges they face in fighting SGBV. Hamma called for more training on trauma healing for survivors of SGBV.
