The governor had on May 17, 2024, during the inauguration of the reconstructed Christ the King School (CKS) and Ewet Offot Model Schools in Uyo, promised to pay a one-off wardrobe allowance to all public primary and secondary school teachers in the state.

Acknowledging the fulfilment of the promise, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), and the Association of Primary Schools Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) have expressed gratitude to the governor.

Letters to this effect by the affected teachers’ unions addressed to the governor through the State Ministry of Education, led by the commissioner, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, and made available to LEADERSHIP commended the governor “for your pragmatic leadership as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda, particularly for the advancement of the education sector.”

“Teachers, students, and pupils across all public primary, secondary, and technical schools are deeply encouraged by the benevolence of the governor,” they stressed.

The teachers also lauded the governor “for the provision of ARISE customised exercise books, payment of backlogs of outstanding leave grants to primary school teachers, payment of the “N20,000 civil service bonus to all civil servants, payment of N50,000 to all teachers as a wardrobe allowance, and the prompt payment of subventions, among other achievements.”

The letters unanimously highlighted what they described as “the unfeigned commitment of Pastor Eno to achieving academic excellence and ensuring the welfare of teachers, staff, students, and pupils, which serves as a significant motivation for all to continue striving towards success within the state’s education system.”
