Arsenal are reportedly poised to acquire Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, from Atalanta in a significant £42.5 million swap deal. According to Sportitalia, the Gunners are offering €50 million (approximately £42.5 million) and are open to including defender Jakub Kiwior as part of the transaction.Kiwior’s potential inclusion in the deal could reduce the transfer fee. The Polish defender, who was not part of Mikel Arteta’s squad for Arsenal’s season-opening victory over Wolves, is expected to leave North London soon, regardless of a move to Atalanta.
Lookman has been in high demand following his exceptional performance in the Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. The 26-year-old winger has attracted interest from PSG and Saudi Pro League clubs this summer.
“The past few years I’ve been able to take my game to a new level on a more consistent basis. Maybe it would have come earlier,” Lookman said after the Europa League final.
“But it’s come now and I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made. This is just the beginning and I hope for more nights like this and to get better and better. That’s the key.”
Despite featuring in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid, Lookman was notably absent from Atalanta’s squad for their season opener against Lecce on Monday, reportedly due to an approach from PSG.
His recent absence from training further fuels speculation that his time in Italy may be nearing an end.
With a move to the French capital still uncertain, Arsenal are ready to step in and bring the former Charlton and Fulham ace back to London.
The Nigerian winger has shown great promise throughout his career, having played for clubs like Everton, RB Leipzig, and Leicester City. His 17 goals and 10 assists last season highlight his potential.
