Actress Zoe Kravitz has made her directorial debut with the feature film, ‘Blink Twice’.

The horror movie has received positive reviews from critics who have praised the movie as heads above the many Jordan Peele imitators.

‘Blink Twice’ shows two friends and cocktail waitresses, Frida (Naomie Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) who are invited to a getaway trip on a private island of tech entrepreneur, Slater King (Channing Tatum). Between lounging by the poolside by day, and drug-fueled debaucheries at night, the two began to notice that people, objects and memories are starting to disappear. They suspect all may not be as it appears in their so-called Eden.

“It is the commitment to the literal and metaphorical symbolisms that elevates ‘Blink Twice’ into the marvel that it is. Like Spike Lee, Kravitz approaches filmmaking with the fearless abandon of a creator unwilling to hold anything back, using all the tools at her disposal – particularly an eerie, uncomfortable approach to sound mixing – to craft both a disjointed first half, and a taught second act that emphasizes the powerlessness the girls’ experience.

“There is a messiness to ‘Blink Twice’ that causes the film to stumble. Like another Peele feature ‘Us’, it prioritizes metaphor over plot mechanics. But the craft and enthusiasm involved make up for its missteps,” said Willamette Week review.
