A statement by the university’s public relations officer, Ademola Adesoji, stated that the selection process, which took place between May and June 2024, passed due process.

The statement read in part: “These positions were explicitly open to postgraduate students enrolled in PhD and academic master’s programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session.

“The Postgraduate College, which coordinates the programme, received 32 applications, with 18 candidates applying for Grade I positions and 14 for Grade II.

He stated that following a meticulous screening process, 16 candidates were selected for Grade I, and 11 were chosen for Grade II.

According to him, the selection process ensured that the successful candidates had a deep understanding of their specialised fields and demonstrated general solid knowledge, good character, articulate communication skills, and a steadfast commitment to academic excellence.

He noted that the newly appointed teaching assistants will contribute to the development of teaching materials, assist in delivering course content, and continue to advance their own academic research.

The vice-chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, congratulated the successful candidates on their achievements and encouraged them to embrace continuous learning and adaptability. He also emphasised the crucial role they will play in addressing societal challenges.
