President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has left the headquarters of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja after responding to an invitation concerning allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.

The NLC leadership and Ajaero left for the IRT headquarters shortly before 10 am on Thursday morning and departed at 11:15 am after writing his statement.

Although Ajaero did not address journalists at the IRT headquarters, the labour union leader indicated that he would provide a statement later at the NLC headquarters.

LEADERSHIP reports that the police had last week invited Ajaero to the IRT headquarters on August 20 to answer questions regarding the serious allegations against him.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Ajaero could not attend the invitation on the scheduled date but committed to honouring the invitation on Thursday, August 29.

Prior to his departure from the Labour House, also known as the Pascal Bafyau House, Ajaero was seen alongside the NLC’s legal representatives and senior labour leaders.

He was accompanied by prominent legal figures including Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana, Marshal Abubakar, Deji Adeyanju, and several senior NLC officials before making his way to the IRT Complex at Old Abattoir, near Guzape Junction, Abuja.

In a show of support for their leader, the NLC had earlier directed its members to embark on a nationwide solidarity march as Ajaero appeared before the Nigeria Police Force.

The march was intended to demonstrate unity and support for the NLC President amid interrogation on allegations highlighted by the police supposedly in a petition where Ajaero’s name prominently featured.
