PICTORIAL: Onyeka Onwenu Buried In Lagos

The nation bids farewell to celebrated music icon, producer and politician Onyeka Onwenu, who was fondly known as the “Elegant Stallion,” as her remains were laid to rest on Friday in Lagos.

Onwenu, a revered figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72.

She died at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja where he was rushed to after collapsing during an event honouring the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Stella Okoli.

The service of songs was earlier held in her honour at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, and was attended by prominent figures.

The burial ceremony followed immediately at the Ebony Vaults, James George Street, Off Alagbon Close in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential elections, Mr Peter Obi, was among public figures present at the event.

Members of Onwenu’s family and friends, clergymen stood at the gravesite to pay their last respect as the singer’s corpse was lowered into the grave.
