Peoples Democratic Party governors have vindicated the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Adolphus Wabara, and other members on alleged lack of support for Rivers State governor, Simi Fubura.
Abia State chieftain of the party, Emeka-Yellow Ikpegbu, made the remarks when he spoke to the media in Umuahia while reacting to the governors’ visit to Fubura in Port Harcourt to pledge their support for him.

“I don’t know why the erstwhile senate president should be crucified, literally speaking, for canvassing the same opinion that the governors have expressed.

“As the conscience of the party, the board members are expected to stand on the side of truth and justice. The right things must be done at all levels of our party leadership. And that’s what they have done,” he said.

He extolled the governors for their stand, adding that their action was in tandem with the position of the chairman and the others and represented the view of the former ruling party members.

“Governor Fubara, as the leader of the party in that state, should be allowed to exercise his full right. We must learn to respect internal democracy for the party to survive,” the chieftain maintained.

He warned against what he termed as re-emerging impunity in the party which he said adversely affected it in the past, and underscored the need to respect its hierarchy and constitution.

The opposition party chieftain, who urged the board members and the elders not to relent in their efforts to reposition the party, predicted a bright future for it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Wike, who was opportune to govern the state for two terms, should leave Fubara, Wabara and the party alone and concentrate on his current assignment as the Federal Capital Territory minister,” Ikpegbu added.
