Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of 1,860 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the Damare Orientation Camp, the governor promised continued payment of N10,000 allowances to cushion their hardship.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, urged them to reciprocate the gesture by being disciplined and hard working.

“As corps members, you are automatically bona fide indigenes of Adamawa State.

“This is a privilege conferred on you by me as the number one citizen and executive governor of the state,” he said.

The governor urged them to identify themselves positively with the yearning and aspirations of the people at their various places of primary assignment (PPA).

He tasked corps members on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training to enable them become self-reliant and employers of labour rather than job seekers at the end of their service year.

Earlier, the state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ateli Samson acknowledged the approval of Governor Fintiri for the renovation and construction of camp facilities damaged by rainstorms and augmenting the feeding of corps members and camp officials.

Others include a 10,000 monthly allowance to all corps members serving in the state, among others, saying his generosity is unquantifiable.

He reiterated the NYSC and corps members’ collaboration, support and cooperation to the present administration.

The coordinator said the orientation course is meant to prepare the corps members physically and mentally for their expected contributions to the progress and development of the state and the country at large in the service and post-service year.

The state’s chief judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, represented by Justice Ishaku Yakubu administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.
