Microfinance Banks Pledge Deeper Financial Inclusion In FCT

The National Association of Microfinance Banks FCT chapter has elected new executive members to serve the association for the next two years, with a promise to improve on financial inclusion within the city.
Accepting his position as the newly elected chairman of the association, Sir Francis Akie pledged the commitment of the newly elected executives to put in their best to ensure effective collaboration between the association, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) the administration of President Bola Tinubu and other stakeholders to deepen and drive financial inclusion to the last mile in Nigeria.

“We will work with the FCT, Administration, Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Administration of President Bola Tinubu to ensure more Nigerians are pulled out of poverty through the instrumentality of financial and social inclusion,” he stated.

The outgone chairman of the association, Ms. Nwanna Joel-Ezeugo stated that she’s happy with the mileage microfinancing is gaining in the aspect of supporting those at the base of the economic pyramid. In her words, “MIcrofinance Banks in Nigeria have gained significant mileage in supporting businesses and households at the base of the economic pyramid.”

The newly elected public relations officer of the association, Mr. Joe Onyeabor advocated that governments at all levels should incorporate Microfinance Banks in all the social intervention programmes in order to ensure the maximum impact intended by the government is achieved.

Also, Omololu Adewalurewho is the new vice chairman of the chapter, stated that microfinance banks are the closest banks to the people and should be encouraged to do more.

Akie further assured that the Association in the FCT will work closely with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to ensure all the laudable social intervention programmes of the government in FCT get to the right people who are the most vulnerable in our society.
