The inductees took the oath and were inducted into the profession as part of the 60th-anniversary celebration, which had the theme “60 years of Veterinary Education, the Goals, the Gains and the Gaps,” held in the faculty auditorium in conjunction with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).

The Induction lecturer and awardee at the ceremony, Dr Adebanji Adeniyi, stressed the importance of upholding professionalism and moral behaviour in Veterinary medicine.

A first faculty graduate in the 1967 set, Professor Basil Ikede congratulated the faculty on its achievements over the years in training veterinarians who have always contributed to research and education in Nigeria and worldwide.

He urged the inductees to be confident in administering their profession and bear the name “Doctor” with pride and humility.

The Dean of the faculty, Prof. Olufunke Ola-Davies, urged the newly inductees to uphold the values of their profession by serving as exemplary ambassadors.

She explained that the faculty was operating under interim accreditation when she took over the office and obtained full certification from the National University Commission (NUC) months after she assumed leadership.

Ola Davies appreciated the university management, which provided her with a strong platform to lead after she was elected Dean.

According to her, some of her notable achievements included establishing the Faculty Alumni Association.

On staff promotion, she maintained that five readers, six senior lecturers, and fifteen professors had been promoted in the faculty since she assumed office as the Dean.
