Ondo State governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved 54 boreholes and 1,600 solar lights in rural communities to make potable water accessible and prevent the outbreak of disease in the state.
Aiyedatiwa said the gesture is part of his administration’s effort to develop the grassroots, prevent accidents at night, and prevent insecurity in rural communities.

On Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on community engagement, Hon. Femi Denis Fadairo, disclosed this at the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akure, the state capital.

Fadairo, who further disclosed that Governor Aiyedatiwa also approved a contract for the reticulation of Owena Dam for the people of Ondo Central Senatorial district, noted that the government has taken stock of the people’s needs to provide social amenities across the state.

Speaking at the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Fadairo said the governor also approved over 20 Kilometres of roads across the state’s 18 local governments.

While noting that the government has taken stock of the people’s needs to provide social amenities, he said our office will supervise the sinking of the boreholes directly in the communities highlighted for him.

According to him, “It was agreed that 18 boreholes for each senatorial district would make a total of 54 for the first batch. We have spoken with the community heads. We will ensure that the boreholes won’t be lopsided and the solar lights won’t be sited in the same place to ensure fair distribution.

“The governor has approved 20 km of roads in each local government. In the next few weeks, many activities will start regarding road infrastructure in the state. That is part of the thrust the people should expect from their governor. He has shown the will and zeal to deliver to the people if re-elected again.’’
