Over 1,200 physically challenged and old women have received 25kg bags of rice distributed by the wife of the president, Senator Remi Tinubu in Jigawa State.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at Banquet Hall of Government House, Dutse, Senator Tinubu said, the selection of the vulnerable women for the presidential palliatives is part of the broader aspect of the Renewal Hope Agenda of Mr President.
Mrs Tinubu who was represented by the wife of Jigawa State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Namadi, reiterated her commitment to championing the implementation of policies and programmes that would improve the socio-economic life of Nigerian women.
“This food palliatives are specifically for vulnerable women. We gave this a priority because of the compassion we have for the group and we will continue to accord them priority for sense of belonging and humanity.
“Empowering and assisting women is equal to empowering the family and we do hope that this palliative will help the benefitting families in this trying period of social and economic challenges,” she stated.
The state commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Abdulwahab said, the beneficiaries were selected in collaboration with stakeholders from across the 27 local government areas of the state.
In their remarks, the beneficiaries thanked the wife of the president, the Jigawa State governor and his wife for the kind gesture and promised to reciprocate the love and sense of concern before and beyond 2027.
