To achieve this, the Yobe State’s Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program has organised a comprehensive training program for its staff and State Steering Committee in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Governor Buni, represented by Yobe State NG-CARES Chairman Steering Committee and Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Mohammed Garba Gagiyo, said government considers programme such as NG-CARES as an opportunity that will help in not only facilitate COVID-19 action recovery but improvement in the livelihood of the people of the state.

He commended the steering committee as well as the coordinator for embarking on an experience-sharing trip expressing confidence that the initiative will help the state in the effective implementation of the programme for remarkable achievements.

“This training is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our desire to learn from the best.

“Saudi Arabia’s remarkable achievements in transforming its economy, developing its infrastructure, and providing quality services to its citizens are an inspiration to us.
“We believe that by learning from their experiences, we can replicate similar successes in Yobe State,” Gov. Buni stated.

In a keynote address, the Yobe State coordinator of the program, Alhaji Bukar Kilo, maintained that the capacity-building initiative was designed to have a positive impact on the implementation of Yobe State’s NG-CARES program, which was aimed at mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and promote economic recovery in the state.

Kilo outlined other benefits of the training to “Enhanced capacity and skills for staff and stakeholders, exposure to international best practices and expertise, improved service delivery and project implementation, strengthened partnerships and collaboration, knowledge sharing and transfer, inspiration and motivation for innovative solutions

“The Yobe State NG-CARES program’s decision to organize this training in Saudi Arabia, despite other options like Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, India, Rwanda, Brazil and Europe, as the case may be in some States in the Country, demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and willingness to explore new frontiers in capacity building.

“As the program continues to implement its initiatives, the knowledge and expertise gained from this training will undoubtedly contribute to the achievement of its goals and the betterment of the people of Yobe State.

“This innovative initiative aims to build capacity, share knowledge, and learn from Saudi Arabia’s successful operations in various sectors,” the Coordinator stated.

The training, which commenced on September 3, 2024, brings together key personnel from Yobe State’s NG-CARES program and Stakeholders from various ministries, departments, and agencies.

The Two weeks long program is designed to equip participants with cutting-edge skills, expertise, and best practices in areas such as project management, financial management, and service delivery.

The training program features interactive sessions, workshops, and site visits to key projects and institutions in Saudi Arabia.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with Saudi experts, share their own experiences, and identify potential areas of collaboration.
