Following the decision of the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, to proceed on indefinite leave, the leadership of APC Professionals Council (APC PC) has urged the president to consider and elevate his Senior Special Assistant Media, Mr. Tunde Rahman to the position of Special Adviser Media.
This call came after the immediate past Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, requested an indefinite leave of absence on health grounds, which the presidency has since granted.
In a statement yesterday, the Director General of APC Professionals Council, Dr Seyi Bamigbade, said Rahman possesses the prerequisite qualifications to be the engine room of the President’s public communications.
According to Bamigbade, Tunde Rahman is a veteran journalist who has, over the years, served the President as a personal media aide even long before he became the nation’s leader.
He said, “It is not in doubt that Tunde Rahman is the man for the job. A core gentleman, he has the expertise to hold the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
“As someone who has been with the President for a long time, one can safely call a member of the President’s kitchen cabinet. Having held the position of the SSA to the President of Media, Tunde Rahman has proven himself to be a round peg in a round hole.”
According to the council, Mr Rahman has already proven his skills as a versatile journalist with a robust network in the media industry. Such strong relationships with media owners and other major players are required to succeed.
