Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board has urged the Abia State government to hasten up the process for realisation of the proposed multi-billion naira Abia Industrial and Innovation Park in Owaza.
Executive secretary of the board, Felix Ogbe made the appeal when he led members of the board on a working visit to the state governor, Alex Otti in his country home in Umuru Nvosi.
He stressed the importance of the quick response, assuring that as soon as the government submitted a proposal for the park to his office, the board would commence deliberation on it.
“The project, I think, is something worth doing. I will have a session with the board after which I will come back to Your Excellency to tell you our position and what we intend to do,” Ogbe added.
In his response, the governor expressed the readiness of the government to partner the board to accelerate the commencement of the proposed project in Ukwa West local government.
“We’re very happy to partner with you and you can be sure that we will do everything possible to ensure that the project takes off and lands successfully. In the next few days, you will receive our written request.”
“But, in spite of that, we will continue to do what we have to do to ensure that the project continues to run until you come in to give us the push we require.” .
“What we have done is to create the enabling environment because we are a private sector-led government. This government is here to support and grow businesses,” he said.
Earlier in his presentation, the chief executive officer of the park, Chinedu Onyeizu explained some of its features and socioeconomic benefits to the state in particular and the country at large.
