The Acting Governor of Kaduna state, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, has challenged the 5th cohort of Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship to give their best in every facet of the programme because they were chosen on merit.
Dr Balarabe said this while addressing the 24 new fellows during their welcome ceremony at Government House, last Tuesday.
Emphasising why the fellows should put in their best, the Acting Governor disclosed that the investment being made on them throughout the programme deserves their utmost.
“The commitment to strive for the best, to focus, and deliver quality are key ingredients of leadership capacity. It requires conscious efforts and application,” she reiterated.
Dr Balarabe then assured the fellows of government’s active support of their intellectual development and understanding of public service and leadership, through their immersion in governance machinery.
“The Kaduna State Government, the Governing Board and the Administrator of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship are all committed to making your fellowship the most transformative experience in building public service leadership capacity,” the Acting Governor stated, adding that the fellowship is a part of the government’s commitment to young people.
An initiative of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship was created to equip a network of high potential young Nigerians, for top leadership positions in the public sector and other spheres of activity.
Since its inception in 2018, the fellowship has trained 72 young people from across the country and the new set of 24 fellows, like the previous ones, were painstakingly selected from the 6,983 applicants, before making the list of the 5th cohort.
