The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State said it has uncovered a grand design to create problems ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

The party, in a statement signed by its acting publicity secretary, Mr. Shittu Bamaiyi, said information at their disposal reveals that a group of persons under the name “‘foundation members” is mobilising to create confusion and rift in the party.

Bamaiyi said as part of its grand plan, the group has slated Wednesday 18, 2024, to address a world press conference in Abuja, with the sole purpose of misinforming members of the public on the state of affairs in the party on the Plateau.

He said the name “Foundation members” connotes mischief, because as far as the APC is concerned, there is no differential in respect of membership, since all supporters enjoy the same recognition and respect in the party.

“Therefore, for anybody or group of persons to wake up, and claim superiority over others, is an attempt to create class difference with the sole intention of weakening the Party structure and cohesion in order to achieve some subterranean motives”.

He argued that the party is not unaware that some people have not been happy with the ongoing reconciliatory exercise and would therefore go all out to  sabotage the move for reasons best known to them.

Bamaiye further noted that the party suspects the “voice of Jacob, and hands of Esau” in the ill-intentioned, ill-conceived and ill-timed agenda of the group.

“What smacks suspicion and misgivings about the motive of the group, is the timing of its planned actions, particularly when the local government elections are about to take place”.

He disclosed that intelligence gathered, points to the fact, that the main purpose of the group is to ferment trouble in order for the party not to be able to face the local government elections squarely.

The APC acting publicity secretary therefore appealed to its members to remain calm and resolute, as well disregard any misinformation that might come from the group, as it is nothing but a hatchet job, to frustrate the party from actively participating in the local government elections in the state.
