The Alagbeji Royal Family of Isolo Kingdom in Lagos State explained the process that led to Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola as the Osolo-elect.
Speaking to newsmen on behalf of the family, the family head, Taoreed Faronbi, also known as Alado, said Aregbeshola’s emergence followed directives from duly accredited kingdom authorities, the government and the family.
Aregbeshola is expected to succeed the late Osolo, Kabiru Agbabiaka, who hailed from the Adeola-Olushi Onigbesa Ruling House that died on April 10, 2024.
Isolo kingmakers had, in a letter dated July 24, 2024, entitled: “Appointment/Selection of Oba Osolo-Elect,” to the Alagbeji Family through Faronbi, to forward the name(s) of qualified princes to fill the vacant stool of the Isolo Kingdom.
This was premised on an earlier letter from the Chairman of Oshodi Isolo Local Government Area on the subject, even as the council had written a letter on July 22, 2024, signed by the council manager, Akinbanu Samson, on the Osolo stool to the Alagbeji Family.
Consequently, the family, through their head, in a letter dated July 30, 2024, entitled: “Re-Appointment/Selection of Oba Osolo-Elect,” to Isolo kingmakers that the family had met and unanimously chosen Aregbeshola to fill the vacant stool.
“Having said so, it is noteworthy that the Alagbeji Royal Family has four branches, including the Akinlagun branch, which produced the late Disu Faronbi (1975 -1984); the Arowoye Ejoga branch, which created the Baale Alagbeji, Samuel Arowoye (1995-2010); the Apena branch which made the Baale Alagbeji, Jelili Apena (2022 till date) and the Alabe branch that has not produced a king or baale and therefore, deserves a shot at the vacant stool of Oba of Isolo.
“As the Olori-Ebi of Alagbeji Royal Family House and having been informed officially of this vacancy, I wrote to notify the Alabe Family whose turn it is to present a candidate to do so within the time assigned through my lawyer, as attached the letter dated, July 27, 2024.
“Coming from the background, the Alabe Family met on this urgent matter and reached a unanimous verdict to present Aregbesola as the candidate for the vacant stool of Oba of Isolo Kingdom,” Faronbi Said.
