The PDP in Kaduna State has described the report of an injunction stopping the state congress as a rumour, saying it would hold today as scheduled.

The party said the “rumour” of postponement was the handiwork of enemies, adding that there was no change in the earlier plan to hold it.

In a statement last night in Kaduna, the PDP state caretaker committee chairman, Chief Felix Hassan Hyat, said, “We wish to clarify the rumours going round that the scheduled PDP state congress slated for tomorrow, 21/9/2024, has been postponed is false.”

He said the congress would go on as scheduled, and urged all party members to disregard the “rumour”, as all necessary preparations had been made. Earlier, it was reported that five aggrieved members of the party had obtained an exparte order from an Abuja Federal High Court restraining the party and INEC from holding state congress and elections scheduled for today, September 21, pending the determination of motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Recall that Nura Waziri, Muntari Shuaibu, Yusuf Suleiman, Mallam Mansur Alasan and Jaafaru Abubakar.had sought an ex parte order stopping the election which was granted.

The exparte motion was filed by counsel to the aggrieved party members, M. A. Mahmud (SAN) on their behalf.

Mahmud SAN, in a letter to the INEC chairman dated September 18, asked the commission to restrain itself from participating and monitoring the state congress in Kaduna, scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
