MDCAN Applauds Reduction Of Electricity Tariff For Hospitals

Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has applauded the 50 percent reduction in electricity tariff for public health and educational institutions in the country.

MDCAN the commendation in a communique issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting with the theme, “Health as a Sustainable Development Goal in Nigeria: Celebrating our Success and Strategizing for the Future”.

They further urged the federal government to do more by taking off the burden of electricity tariff of state-owned and private health facilities, saying they are all serving Nigerians.

The communique which was jointly signed by the association President Prof. Aminu Mohammad and Secretary Prof. Daiyabu Ibrahim a copy made available to newsmen in Jos also argued that Universal application of energy subsidy will improve healthcare delivery in the country.

MDCAN also observed with serious concern, the failure of the federal government to fully harmonise and circularise the shortfall in salaries/income loss by clinical lecturers (Honorary Consultants) occasioned by non payment of their salary with CONMESS.
