The Nigerian Army said its troops have killed eight terrorists and rescued 16 hostages in different operations across the country.

A statement by the Nigerian Army on its social media handle said troops also recovered several firearms in the operations.

According to the statement, troops on 22 September, 2024, thwarted an attempt by terrorists to raid villages for supplies and logistics in Borno State.

Nigerian Army added that following an intense firefight, troops killed three of the assailants and recovered one light machine gun, one AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 200 linked rounds of light Machine Gun and other materials, ₦15,000 and a Techno phone at the scene.

Relatedly, troops acting on credible information, intercepted terrorists escorting abducted victims through Uvaha village in Gwoza local government area and eliminated one of them, forcing the others to flee while leaving 16 hostages behind.

The rescued victims comprised 10 men and 6 women while two grenades, a bag of fish and sundry items were recovered from the hoodlums.
