TY Danjuma Foundation, Zenith Bank Donate To Borno Flood Victims

Zenith Bank Donate To Borno Flood Victims

The Theophilus Danjuma Foundation on Monday donated the sum of N1 billion to the victims of Maiduguri flood disaster through the Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum.

Similarly, Zenith Bank also made the donation of N300 million for onward utilisation for the victims of the flood disaster as Rano Group also donated N50 million to the Maiduguri Relief Fund for the flood victims.

Speaking before presenting the cheque of N1 billion to Governor Zulum, the daughter of former Minister of Defence, Ms Gloria Danjuma who came alongside the CEO of the Danjuma Foundation, appealed to the Governor to accept the condolences of her father who could not make it to the state due to some challenges.

Ms Danjuma said, “I am here with the CEO of TY Danjuma Foundation as representatives of Gen. TY Danjuma. I have brought his sympathy letter for you, members of the council and the people of Borno State.

“I have also been asked to present a donation of N1 billion. And please accept my father’s condolences, he couldn’t make it due to some challenges.”

In appreciation, Governor Zulum appreciated the representatives of Gen Danjuma for the sympathy visit, saying that the destruction goes beyond economic activities, but loss of several lives and properties.

“Let me start by appreciating the representatives of our father, led by our daughter. On behalf of the government and people of Borno State, I want to sincerely appreciate this delegation,” Zulum said.

He recalled the numerous support given to the Borno State Government by the TY Danjuma Foundation which included rehabilitation of 20 public institutions destroyed by Boko Haram terrorists in Dikwa, rehabilitation of 10 public schools and health institutions in Bama, among others.

Similarly, a delegation of Zenith Bank PLC led by Comfort Kwajjafa also sympathised with Governor Zulum and the entire people of Borno State over the flood disaster and presented a N300 million cheque to the Governor.

In the same vein, representatives of the Rano Gruop led by Lawan Sabo and Alhaji Ardo Rano, equally sympathised with the Borno State governor over the disaster and made a donation of N50 million to the flood relief fund.
