The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has warned against the planned October 1 nationwide protest, saying it is a mere political demonstration to nurture ambition.
The association’s national president, Olalekan Hammed said in Ibadan yesterday that the planned protest organised by the African Action Congress (AAC) former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore was a mere political demonstration to nurture his political ambition by expressing dissent and systematically mobilise for his 2027 ambition.
According to the youths, Sowore was only taking advantage of the current hardship in the country to set Nigerians, especially the youths, against the government.
“He’s effortfully taking advantage of the current hardship in the country to set people, especially Nigerian youths, against the government and convince them to give him necessary support against 2027.
“Notwithstanding, it is good to be a self-driven personality but the presidency requires more than students’ unionism experience, part-time teaching and being an online news media director.
“Moreso, to have a vast experience in terms of political office administration he can start by contesting local government chairmanship seat in Ondo State as doing that will avail him the opportunity of putting his popularity to the test at the grassroot level,” they said.
They added that “Truly, Mr Sowore still has time to prepare adequately for his future ambition by ensuring that he has practical experiences in government.
“It is not late for him to begin from a lesser office and gain many things about governance purposely for the future task.”
