Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde has assured local and foreign investors that his administration will continue to provide adequate security for investments and businesses in the state.
Speaking at yesterday’s commissioning of JAGZ Hotels in Iyaganku Government Reservation Area, Ibadan, he called on investors to invest in the state.
The governor maintained that the state had an enabling environment to support businesses. His administration was always ready to help investors who wanted to partner with the government to expand the state’s economy.
According to him, his government will continue to do everything to secure the lives and properties of the state’s residents, which are significant prerequisites that investors consider before entering a state.
Makinde also congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 64th Independence anniversary and advised them to focus on things that unite the country rather than those that divide it.
He said: “I want to use this opportunity to greet everyone during the 64th Independence Anniversary.
“I also want to congratulate Engr Kayode Adebulugbe and the entire team. I was glad when you told me that this is almost 100 per cent local content.
“Not only that, you mentioned that you had no formal contract. I have done business with millions of dollars on handshakes, yet people say Nigerians are dishonest.
“Well, this is a validation that there are honest Nigerians who would do what is right. So, I thank you for this investment in Ibadan and Oyo State.
“The Oyo State government only provided the enabling environment for this. We did not put any government money in it. This demonstrates the Oyo State model; we provide the environment, and the investment will come.
‘’We are commissioning the resilience we are discussing in Nigeria and Oyo State today. Some people may decide to fold their arms and complain from today till tomorrow. But others who are serious would have an appreciation of the environment that we are in and would soldier on.’’
Earlier, Engr Adebulugbe, chairman and chief executive officer of The JAGZ Hotels, Ibadan, lauded Governor Makinde’s developmental policies and infrastructure development drive in the state, describing him as a man of many parts who has been following in Pa Obafemi Awolowo’s footsteps.
