Police Nab 25-year-old For Allegedly Stabbing Father To Death In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemele for allegedly stabbing to death his 68 years old father, Mr Chiemele, at Oba Kabiru Street in the Isolo area of the state.

The tragic incident which occurred Thursday evening was attributed to a dispute between the late father and his son.

Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the murder case and the arrest of the suspect to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.

He said that the murder case was reported at the Aswani Police Division by one of the deceased’s children.

“On 3rd Oct 2024 at about 22:30 hrs, a complainant reported at Aswani Division that at about 2130hrs, he received a phone call from his father’s neighbour at Oba Kabiru Street, Isolo, Lagos that his father Mr. Chiemele ‘m’ aged 68 was having a misunderstanding with his son, one Chibunna Chiemele aged 25, who is living with his father in the same house.

“He stated further that on receiving the phone call, he quickly rushed down to his father’s house at Isolo where he met his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood,” Hundeyin said.

He added that a team of investigators visited the scene and a knife was seen with blood stains lying near the body, “photographs were taken and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Isolo where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.”

The police spokesman said, “The corpse has been deposited at General Hospital Mortuary, Isolo.”

Hundeyin added that the suspect had been arrested and confessed to the crime, adding that investigation is ongoing on the incident.
