The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has adopted new methodologies in communicating government policies, programmes, activities, mobilisation, and processing feedback mechanisms to deliver its mandate.

Director general of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu said this in an address at a press conference on the ongoing nationwide sensitisation on the national anthem and national values charter in Umuahia, Abia State capital.

Represented by the director of public enlightenment and mass mobilisation, Theresa Maduekwe, he said the methodologies target a range of demographics ranging from the young and the not so young and old.

Issa-Onilu explained that the communication world is evolving daily, and it is no more the same way we can reach the people in the 90s and 2000s that the agency can reach them now.

“In collaboration with our parent ministry, the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, the agency submitted for consideration of the Federal Executive Council, some proposals seeking to entrench our value orientation processes.

The director general said many of them, including the ongoing sensitisation deal with young age indoctrination and providing the template for evaluation of the real Nigerian character, were all approved by the council.

“The council also approved the mandatory inclusion of the charter as part of the curriculum of schools both at the basic and post-basic schools. The new syllabus will comprise key topics.

“It also approved the teaching of the national values chatter be made a mandatory component of pre-resumption retreat for the council and the National Assembly members, the judiciary, and other government appointees.

He, therefore, underscored the need for the people to imbibe the value orientation processes and to key into the government’s numerous Renewed Hope programmes.

Contributing, the state director of the agency, Regina Iroha, said there had been a notch in the orientation processes termed “The 7 for 7 reciprocal commitments between the country and the citizens.”

She assured the commitment of the state directorate of the agency to reach every nook and cranny of the state with the message of the charter and other value orientation processes.
