Matawalle gave the assurance during a security assessment tour of Sokoto State, where he visited various communities affected by banditry. The tour was part of the federal government’s ongoing efforts to tackle the rising insecurity in the region.

Among the areas visited was Gundumi village, where the minister assured residents that the long-closed Gundumi-Isa road would be reopened soon. He also announced the establishment of a military camp along the route to enhance security and boost economic activities in the area.

A statement by the defence ministry’s director of press and public relations, Henshaw Ogubike, disclosed that the minister also toured Isa local government area, where he urged the people to be vigilant and work closely with security agencies to ensure safety in their communities. He promised that more military personnel would be deployed to Turba village to reinforce security measures.

Matawalle praised the troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Birni for their courage and commitment, assuring them that the federal government would address their welfare and logistical needs promptly.
