The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday, convened a key strategic meeting with AIGs and CPs from all formations, zonal and state commands of the Police Force, aimed at reflecting on accomplishments, delineating future strategies, and reinforcing the commitment of the Force to maintaining law and order across the nation.

The parley took place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan International Peacekeeping Hall at Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the meeting, the IGP highlighted several significant achievements of the police force in recent months, including successful operations against organized crime, improved response times to emergencies, and increased community engagement initiatives. Noteworthy successes in combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and violent crime were emphasised, showcasing the dedication and resilience of our officers in ensuring the safety of citizens.

The IGP also engaged senior officers present in thorough discussions focused on decisive action plans to further reinforce law and order. The IGP further underlined the necessity of renewing the focus of the police on public safety and achieving operational excellence in service delivery to all citizens.

Significant emphasis was placed on the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16, 2024.

A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, late Tuesday night, said the NPF was fully committed to impartiality, professionalism, and the highest standards of conduct to safeguard democracy.

“Rigorous training sessions will be conducted for police personnel to prepare them for their duties, with a focus on conflict resolution and maintaining public order during the elections,” he stated.

The IGP further announced the senior police officers’ conference and retreat, which would take place from November 25 to 28, 2024, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event aims to provide a platform for high-level discussions on force management, operational strategies, policy formulation, and leadership development within the Force.

In closing, the IGP stressed the indispensable value of camaraderie, teamwork, and shared purpose within the Force. The IGP reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts with relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as community stakeholders, in achieving our common goals. A united front is imperative in tackling the multifaceted security challenges faced by our nation.
